Worship in Spirit & Truth Part 6 - "All about God"
"John 4:23 - But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him."
We must get our focus back to True and Spirit filled worship. The songwriter says that when the music fades and there's nothing else left we must still be able to worship. Job says that even though God may slay him, he will still keep on worshipping. Habakkuk says that even though the fig tree wouldn't blossom, he will still rejoice in the Lord. So as we can see it's not about the music, it's not about the Worship Leader and it's not about our excellence. It's all about God, and the glory that is due to Him. Too much glory has been shifted to other stuff that is not as important than what God is. We must start giving more credit to God, and stop boasting about our excellent worship teams, singers, bands, etc. All these people are there to accompany us and make the path to God's throne easier. All the praise belongs to God, and to Him alone. It is good to compliment people on their achievements, but don't put too much emphasis on it. One thing that a lot of our humans can't handle is praise. Because when people praise us some of us tend to get into another zone where our heads swells a bit and we think we are all that. Come back to the ground friend, it's not about you it's about God and all His glory. Only God was created to get praise, not us. Pastors should teach their congregations who the real focus in worhip is, and should teach worship leaders and worship teams the importance of staying humble and how to handle praise. If you cannot handle the praises that people give you, you will keep on doing things to impress them and that is where the focus on God is lost.
